U-18 GIRLS TO FACE TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO ALL-STARS SCHOOL GIRLS
RUGBY BARBADOS GIR GIRLS TO FACE TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO SCHOOLS
Rugby Barbados’ fledgling Get Into Rugby (GIR) girl’s programme will face its first true test when its girls teams come up against a team of Under-18 players from Trinidad and Tobago on April 9th, 2016 at 2.00 pm at the Garrison Savannah.
With 20 players regularly attending training sessions, the Head Coach of the Girl’s GIR programme is quietly confident that her charges are up to the challenge. To date, they have only had competitive matches between themselves and against the Senior Women’s team, but their tackling and ball-handling has improved with every outing.
The 7-a-side format that they will play emphasizes tackling, fitness and ball-handling, all of which they have been working hard to improve over the past few months.
The BRFU’s Get Into Rugby programme is currently offered in six secondary schools and at the garrison Savannah on Saturday mornings at 10.00 am. For further information on the GIR programme, please contact Dwight Forde (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Stacia Payne (email@example.com)
